Goals, Objectives and Benefits of Project:
With an aim to provide uninterrupted access of cleaner and quality energy to Eastern & North Eastern part of the country, gas pipeline projects Jagdishpur – Haldia & Bokaro – Dhamra/ Barauni- Guwahati Pipeline Project (JHBDPL/BGPL) popularly known as the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG), of total length of 3291 Km are being executed at a cost of approx. Rs. 13,000 Crore.
Government of India is providing a Capital Grant of Rs 5,176 Crores (40% of the project cost) for timely completion of the project by 2020. This pipeline project will cater to the energy requirements of the States of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Assamcovering 70 Districts and 3150 Villages.
Along with development of the JHBDPL project, six (06) City Gas Distribution Network (CGD) projects viz Varanasi, Patna, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar and Cuttack en-route of pipeline are also being executed. In addition, 15 new Geographical Areas covering 34 districts en-route of Urja Ganga project have been offered for award of CGD projects under the ongoing 9th CGD bidding round.
